Pinehurst Vex Robotics
Pinehurst School offers Vex Robotics as an extra-curricular activity. Anyone from Year 7 through to Year 13 can get involved in this exciting and educational programme.
Vex Robotics is an international robotics competition aimed at school age students. Students are given a “task” to solve and then design and build robots over the course of the year to “solve” the task. The robots are driven around the competition “field” by wireless remote controllers.
The Pinehurst Vex Robotics team meet every Wednesday from 3:30pm through to 5.00pm in the Junior College block at the back of the downstairs classrooms with the ultimate goal of competing in the NZ Nationals in March and hopefully gaining a place in the World Vex Competition held in the USA. Several “scrimmages” are held on Saturdays throughout the year, around Auckland, and students get the opportunity to try out their robots in a competition environment.
As well as the actual Robotics Competition students will also have the opportunity to get involved with several of the associated competitions that Vex also run. This year these will include:
RECF Educational Video Challenge
EMC Team/ Club Website Challenge
VEX Robotics Essay Challenge
