Service Awards

Service Awards

Two of our Year 8 students, Isobel Donald and Hannah Ridgeway (pictured), have been busy working towards their Gold Service Award. They gave up a day in the recent school holidays to plant trees at Tawharanui Regional Park. This was part of the Tawharanui Open Sanctuary Society's annual planting of 15,000 native trees and shrubs.

The girls helped plant about 5000 trees on the day with about 70 other volunteers. It was a wet, cold, and muddy experience. The girls did a great job and worked right through the day getting up early so they could start at about 9am and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
