Pinehurst Senior College Student Accepted into Johns Hopkins University

Senior College Student, Lily Liu has been offered a place at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University – America’s first research University and a world leader for more than 130 years.

Upon completion of a four year Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering degree, Ms Liu will be eligible to apply for entry into the world-class Johns Hopkins Medical School.

When asked how she felt when she first heard the news she said she found the entire process a surreal experience.

“I was in shock, too sceptical to be happy. The ‘Congratulations on your acceptance into Johns Hopkins University’ rendered me speechless. After pounding on my mother’s door to telling her that I had been accepted, she just broke down and cried!”

Pinehurst School’s Executive Principal, Ms Sherida Penman Walters says “we congratulate Lily on her outstanding achievement and courage. Acceptance into Johns Hopkins University is a true honour and we are extremely proud.”

Ms Liu believes her key to success is the combination of perseverance, her mother and Pinehurst’s teachers.

“Perseverance is the key to success. That was the line my mother brought me up with. She [mother] was the one who stood behind me. Year after year she gave up her career and life just to ensure that I was busy with both school and extra-curricular activities.  Finally, I have to acknowledge the profound part that Pinehurst staff and teachers have played in my life."
