Upper North Island Secondary School (UNISS) Netball Tournament

With the season completed the Netball College Team One have come together as a competitive and cohesive team. Winning our five games on the trot to win Open A Flight division.

The transition from playing one game on Saturday, to going to UNISS to play two games a day over five days was incredible. The players challenged at a high competitive level, and grew with confidence with each game. We were entered in C grade which had four teams in each pool a total of 12 pools equalled 48 teams. We lost three, drew one, and won six games.

From the beginning of the season we had eight players, three of whom have had previous experience playing in A Grade at Netball North Harbour, and six players who were new to this level of netball.

An athlete coach was bought on board this year; he came in once a week to train the girls concentrating on training movement to increase strength, power and speed.

From a coaching point of view we have concentrated on increasing ball handling skills, pivoting to turn on the ball quickly, using the right type of pass, fast footwork, getting free in a confined space.

Well done Team!! We will be a force to be reckoned with for the next few years. Thank you to all the parents for your support throughout the season and a big thank you to Kristen my video statistician and assistant coach and Helene who helped out with the scoring and management role.
