Pinehurst excels in Inter-school’s Show Hunter competition in Cambridge

Author -  Shannon Sager

Yet again, Pinehurst School has done extremely well at this annual inter-school’s competition finishing second overall one point behind St Peters. A small team of three Pinehurst pupils: Maddy Buttle, Mikayla Nicholson and Emily Mole represented the school on the 10th of May at St Peters School in Cambridge.
The team travelled down on Saturday prior to the Sunday competition as warm up started at 7:30 am on Sunday morning. Sleeping overnight in a horse truck it was a bit of fun but somewhat chilly night for us all.
The show hunter format involves each rider completing two rounds. Points are awarded for placing in each class up to 10th position. As a team normally consists of 4 riders, we had a draft rider from MacLean’s College. The senior members of the team provided great support for the younger member of the team.
The results for the team were:
Maddy Buttle : 1st and 2nd places
Mikayla Nicholson: 8th place
Emily Mole: 2nd and 9th places
Our draft rider ( Georgia Wheatcroft) also placed in both her rounds adding to the team score.
Congratulations to the team it was a great effort and a fun event!!
