Hibiscus Coast Primary Schools Netball Tournament

Author -  Shannon Sager

On Tuesday 11 August the Year 3 and 4 netball teams, along with four Year 9 umpires, travelled to the Hibiscus Coast for a Netball Tournament. The weather was extremely sunny, but there was a very cold wind whipping across the courts. Each of our three teams had to play four games. All our teams were in a Year 3/4 grade which meant our Year 3 players came up against some pretty challenging games and tall opposition.

Pinehurst 3 team, made up of all Year 3 players, held their own with a draw and 3 losses. Well done Pinehurst 3.
Pinehurst 2 was made up of Year 3 and 4 girls who were playing together for the first time. Unfortunately they didn’t manage a win, but they played some really hard netball to give all their opposition a good game. Great effort Pinehurst 2.
Pinehurst 1, our Year 4 team put on an outstanding display, winning all their 4 games and going through to the finals. Just like the Silver Ferns playing Australia it was very tight close game. At half time it was 2-2. The girls played hard in the 2nd half, but unfortunately missed a long shot in the final seconds and the game ended 4-3 to Whangaparoa. Congratulations girls for coming second. This is an outstanding result.

On behalf of the girls, Kelly Clark and myself we would like to thank all the coaches, managers, umpires, parent helpers, grandparents and the Sports Coordinator, Jenny Bindon for travelling up and supporting the girls on the day.
