Day 4 Pinehurst AIMS Games Team

Author -  Shannon Sager

Day 4 was a huge day for the Pinehurst AIMS Games Team. Table Tennis again proved to be strong medal contenders with Michael Malik qualifying for Finals Day on Friday for the singles competition. Mark Price finished the singles 9th Place out of 64 competitors. Day 5 will see both Mark and Michael pair up in the doubles - they are heavily favoured to also qualify for Finals Day. Antonio impressed again today in Tennis, winning both matches today to put him in a playoff for 9th place. This is a fantastic result and one that Antonio has worked very hard to achieve. Gym Sports had their first day of competition at AIMS Games coming away with Pinehurst AIMS Games Team first medal of the tournament - a Bronze Medal awarded for Flyers Women's Artistic Overall Team. Congratulations to Amy Blind, Aimee Fletcher, Laura Allison and Gabrielle Brown. Hockey topped their pool play with a win against Berkely 1-0 early this morning in the dying minutes of the game, qualifying them for a quarter-final match against Pukekohe this afternoon. In the Quarter Final, outstanding defensive play, together with some inspiring goalkeeping by Fergus Eadie ensured the team remained unbeaten and secured them a place in the Semi-final tomorrow afternoon against Kamo Intermediate. Netball will complete pool play in the morning, and commence final tournament placing matches tomorrow afternoon.
