How did you first get involved in teaching, what attracted you to this profession?
As a student I spent many Summer holidays teaching Outdoor Education.
What attracted you to Pinehurst?
The opportunity to focus on teaching and learning rather than class management.
What do you enjoy most about working/teaching at Pinehurst School?
The enthusiasm and desire to learn of the students.
What would you say are some of your strongest beliefs about education?
That every student should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Explain why you like teaching the Cambridge Curriculum?
Clear goalposts. I know exactly what is expected of the students in order to achieve success.
How long have you been teaching?
Nearly 30 years.
Where did you train and what qualifications do you hold?
BSc Electrical Engineering at Southampton University.
Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Education ( Physics and Outdoor Education) at Exeter University
Has teaching always been your profession?
No originally worked as en Engineer with Otis Elevators.
What are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work & the contribution you can make?
I enjoy the fact that what we do is constantly evolving and the fact that we can make a significant contribution.
Are you involved in any volunteer, fundraising activities, associations or professional bodies or have you received and awards, medals or even medallions?
When I left Wales I was rewarded and recognized for a lifetime contribution to Surf Lifesaving.
What are you passionate about personally? What do you really enjoy? Briefly tell us about you
I still participate in a wide variety of sports I enjoy watching sport done well.
