About Pinehurst School
Welcome from the Executive Principal
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Pinehurst School. As Founding Principal, I take great pride in seeing the dream of a small group of parents who started the school in 1991 with just 34 pupils, come to fruition today with Pinehurst recognised as one of the world’s leading schools, catering for around 800 pupils spanning Years 1 to 13.
Pinehurst is a dynamic community sustained by a passion for learning where the relationship between student, teacher and parent is paramount. We are a school of unashamedly high expectations, academic and otherwise, that is complemented by a very high level of individual care for each student. Values and intelligent behaviour are taught and lived, encouraging high standards of personal integrity, co-operative behaviour, critical thinking and problem solving. Our students enjoy learning in small classes taught by qualified specialist teachers in a very supportive environment.
Through Cambridge International Qualifications, all our students are well prepared to be global citizens, to forge their own way in the world with a love of life, of learning and an emotional resilience to withstand the knocks of life. Our academic success is outstanding, recognised by being awarded the University of Cambridge’s Centre of Excellence status, placing us amongst the top percentile of Cambridge schools worldwide.
Pinehurst's total school roll is strictly capped at 950 students, allowing us to provide the very best of attention, opportunities and resources to our students. We are not restricted by any zoning regulations, and we draw students from the North Shore, Auckland City, West and Rodney districts.
A key strength of Pinehurst is our community – our students, teachers, parents, alumni and friends. Throughout the school year there are many opportunities for parents to meet with teachers to discuss their child’s progress, to socialise as a parent/school body and to participate in all aspects of school life. Open communication is always encouraged and we often refer to our key tenet of success as the “Pinehurst Triangle” – the communication and support between student, teacher and parent.
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most difficult and important decisions that you will make. Each school is different and each has its own character and individuality.
We do hope to meet you at one of our regular Open Days where you can experience for yourself our warm and welcoming school. Alternatively, please contact our Registrar of Admissions, Marg Cross, for information or to arrange a personal visit, call (09) 414 0960 or email.
Pinehurst staff continually receive very positive feedback from parents, professional colleagues, students -(past and present) and members of the wider community who find the behaviour of our students exemplary. View some of our testimonials.
Enjoy your journey through our website.
